Samsung Launches Certified Re-Newed Programme in India to Boost Access to Premium Galaxy Devices

Samsung has introduced its ‘Certified Re-Newed’ programme in India, expanding access to refurbished Galaxy smartphones through a company-backed initiative aimed at offering premium devices at lower price points.

The programme includes both flagship and mid-range Galaxy smartphones and comes with a one-year manufacturer warranty. Samsung said the move is intended to improve accessibility to premium devices while supporting longer product lifecycles in the Indian market.

The company will refurbish the smartphones in-house using genuine Samsung parts. Devices will undergo inspection, functional testing and software validation before being repackaged in new boxes. Samsung added that all smartphones under the programme will receive complete data resets and the latest software updates before being made available to consumers.

Focus on affordability and trust

With the refurbished smartphone segment seeing rising consumer interest, Samsung is positioning the programme around reliability and after-sales assurance. The company said the offering is designed to maintain the same standards for performance, security and user experience associated with new Galaxy devices.

“At Samsung, we are focused on expanding access to our technology while maintaining the quality and reliability that consumers expect from Galaxy devices. The Certified Re-Newed programme reflects this approach by offering a trusted pathway to premium experiences at more accessible price points,” said Sumit Walia, Vice President, Head of D2C Business & Corporate Marketing, Samsung India.

The initiative also signals Samsung’s effort to strengthen consumer confidence in the refurbished smartphone category, where concerns around device quality and warranty support have often remained a challenge.

Premium devices at reduced prices

Samsung said the programme will make premium Galaxy devices more accessible to a wider consumer base without compromising on quality assurance. The company did not disclose pricing details or the exact list of smartphone models included under the initiative.

The rollout comes as smartphone brands increasingly look at refurbished and circular economy-led models to extend customer reach and improve sustainability outcomes. Samsung noted that the programme is part of its broader effort to support sustainable product usage while offering more value-driven purchase options to consumers in India.

By combining official refurbishment processes, software support and warranty coverage, Samsung is seeking to create a more structured and trusted ecosystem for pre-owned premium smartphones in the country.

Market Research Outlook Analysis

Samsung’s entry into the certified refurbished segment highlights the growing shift toward affordable premiumisation and circular consumption in India’s smartphone market. The move is likely to intensify competition for organised refurbishers and D2C resale platforms that have largely dominated the category so far.

The programme also indicates how major smartphone brands are increasingly using refurbished channels to expand user acquisition while extending device lifecycle value. Going forward, the sector is expected to see stronger manufacturer-backed refurbishment ecosystems with warranty-led differentiation becoming a key trust factor.
